How to request out-of-stock items
Piano Lane occasionally runs out of stock on certain items. This can occur for several reasons: 1) Because customers have placed larger-than-normal orders for a title, 2) Because a publisher experiences a production delay, or 3) Because that particular title does not sell well enough to justify keeping it in inventory. When this happens, you may place a request for us to notify you when your desired item arrives in stock at our warehouse.
Please note that requested items are not backorders and do not get added to any order you may place. When you request an item, all you're doing is asking us to replenish our supply of a specific out-of-stock title. Requested items do not contribute to any minimum order total required for use of a special coupon code or discount promotion.
To request an out-of-stock item, just send an e-mail to customerservice@pianolane.com
with the desired item # and quantity.
WHY WE DO NOT BACKORDER OUT-OF-STOCK ITEMS:
There is often an undertermined wait time for some out-of-stock items. By not backordering, we give you the opportunity to find your desired item elsewhere while we attempt to acquire it.
Our request process allows you to ask for an out-of-stock or specialty item without your being obligated to purchase the title once it arrives in stock.
Orders containing multiple backorders could result in numerous separate shipments as backordered items come into stock individually. This would increase your shipping costs and be very inconvenient.
Many customers do not like their orders delayed by one backordered item that could take weeks to arrive.
Frequently, out-of-stock item are actually out of print. Until we receive a request to re-stock and the publisher informs us that the title is unavailable, we don't remove the book from our website.
